John Parkes, Bishop of Wangaratta was enthroned in December of 2008 and has been looking after the needs of his diocese ever since. Bishop John has enjoyed a long history within the church having [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] previously served as Assistant Bishop and Archbishop's Commissary in the Diocese of Brisbane. He was also rector of All Saints' Church in Ainslie from 1998 to 2004. Prior to this, John Parkes was a barrister and has put this experience to good practice as part of the General [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] Synod Standing Committee and the Church Law Commission.
The Anglican Church of [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] Australia is the second largest church in Australia and the Diocese of Wangaratta is one of five dioceses within the province [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] of [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] Victoria. The diocese includes the city of [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] Wangaratta itself as well as Albury-Wodonga and Shepparton. The Holy Trinity Cathedral in Wangaratta is the cathedral church of the diocese.
Prior to becoming bishop, John Parkes worked as a barrister and on his arrival within the church, he served on the Church Law Commission which was established to examine matters of Church Law and to make recommendations to the Standing Committee on all matters regarding Church Law. Bishop John was also a [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] member of the General Synod Standing Committee, whose main aim is to engage the church with Australian society.
As well as serving as bishop, John Parkes is a [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] supporter of self sufficiency and has published a book on home brewing which provides insight and information on how best to approach the home brewing method.
